It seems I am destined to spend the rest of my life on our measly 2 1/3 acres that are attached to this house. That is the one thing I have lamented since buying this farm. No matter what we have done to try to change the acreage situation we have been stuck with we always end up right back where we started. So not being the quitting sort I have been planting trees and trying to improve this dastardly plot of land since we first moved in. In the process some lovely surprises have taken root. The 2 pictures above are some examples.
We have more land, but we no longer use it since it is too far away and this is HOME. Luckily, where we are keeping the big horses we have hundreds and hundreds of acres at our disposal. While it isn't ours to keep it is ours to borrow and that works too.
Why, you ask, do we only have 2 1/3 measly acres for a whole farm. Well, we live in BIG farm country. The farmers here farm in hundreds or thousands of acres. So they gobble up everything. Our farm happened to be separated from it's tract shortly before we bought our place. However, the neighbors are pretty darn gracious about letting us play on their large tracts of land.
Now if things ever settle down with GM, the plan is to pick up more land within a few miles since the prices are finally reasonable.
